LOS
ANGELES, CA - February 28, 2002 - Virgin Records America was
a big winner at the 44th Annual Grammy Awards as three superstars
took home honors for their music, further punctuating a great
year of music to kick off 2002.
Janet Jackson collected her fifth Grammy Award overall. Coming
off her HBO televised concert finale in Honolulu, Hawaii, the
sultry icon took home the trophy in the Best Dance Recording
category for the title track from her multi-platinum album, All
For You.
Rock legend Lenny Kravitz made Grammy history yet again by taking
home his fourth consecutive award in the Best Male Rock
Vocal Performance category. By winning this year for his
monster single, Dig In, Lennys four-peat in
this category is unprecedented and breaks the tie he shared with
Bruce Springsteen for the most awards in this category. This 2002
award joins Lennys 1999, 2000 and 2001 Grammy awards for
Fly Away, American Woman, and Again,
respectively.
Not to be outdone by their label mates, Astralwerks Fatboy
Slim took home the award in the Best Short Form Music Video
category for Weapon of Choice, Real Worlds Blind
Boys of Alabama captured the award in the Best Traditional
Soul Gospel Album category for Spirit of the Century, and
Back Porch / Naradas Freddy Fender garnered the trophy in
the Best Latin Pop Album category for La Musica De
Baldemar Huerta.
