WELCOME REO CRAGUN TO THE VIRGIN ROSTER! NEW SINGLE “NIGHT CRAWLER” OUT NOW.
Artist, producer, and songwriter Reo Cragun releases a new single, “Night Crawler,” today via all digital partners. Written by Cragun, the darkly thrilling track features a woozy melody and eerie effects that perfectly capture the isolation of the creative process.
Says, Reo Cragun, “Everybody’s got two sides to them, the ‘Night Crawler’ is the person that surfaces when the sun sets.”
“Night Crawler” is the latest in a string of critically well-received alt-hip-hop/R&B tracks that Cragun has released over the past year. His 2016 breakthrough “Inconsiderate” has amassed over three million Spotify streams, and Pigeons & Planes has hailed it as a “heavy-lidded alternative R&B track” that “takes all of his frustrations and puts it into somber lyrics over head-nodding drums.”
Twenty-three-year-old Cragun was raised in Vancouver, WA, by two single mothers (his mother and his aunt). Growing up, he faced various adversities (including a father in prison), but Cragun excelled in academics and earned a full scholarship to pursue a degree in biology. He hoped to become a doctor before his grandmother’s unexpected death led to a change of heart. Cragun dropped out of school, gave up his scholarship, and dedicated himself to making music — the one thing that has always remained constant in his life. After playing music for most of his childhood—including taking up trumpet in sixth grade, Reo honed his musicianship from an early age and now plays piano, violin, guitar and more.
The buzz on “Inconsiderate” led to Cragun’s collaboration with Nipsey Hussle on “Lost” — a slow-burning early-2017 single that’s now racked up more than 353K streams to date. With the follow-up release of “Peso” in March, Cragun scored over 1.2 million streams and earned praise from the likes of Earmilk, who noted his “captivating production” and a lyrical candor that “dives deep into a discussion about his personal drive and journey with music.”
Now based in Los Angeles, Cragun has been in the studio putting the finishing touches on his Virgin Records debut, which will be released this summer. More details will be announced soon.
“Reo has been making some of the best music of his life including the impressive single ‘Inconsiderate.’ The track is a heavy-lidded alternative R&B track about the strife his dedication to music has introduced to his relationship. He takes all of his frustrations about puts it into somber lyrics over head-nodding drums.”
“‘Peso’ sees Reo Cragun flex his impressive vocals over captivating production. He harnesses infectious vocals and layers them on top of modern production to produce a contemporary vibe that leaves us wanting more.”
“Fast-rising Washington spitter, Reo Cragun, returns to the scene (with) ‘Peso,’ and it’s pretty fire. Reo shows off his versatility and both raps & croons effortlessly over the infectious production…(while) his track ‘Lost’ is a moody and impressive offering that showcases the young artist’s vocal ability and builds on his appeal and unique sound.”
